Performs analyses involving shipments/sales, economic feasibility of new initiatives, competitors, pricing, marketing programs, existing and potential customer preferences, economic conditions, advertising, distribution, and other factors that may influence future sales or new markets. Develops financial and forecasting models related to production or new market opportunities. Researches and analyzes market conditions and opportunities in local, national and international areas to understand cause/effect of almond sales and their by-products and forecasts future growth trends. This is a full time, exempt level position with a concentration on not only efficient management and quantitative analyses of projects but contributing to the prioritization and strategy implications of related analyses. The ability to gather, manipulate, analyze data efficiently and build models/reporting that present data effectively to relevant audiences, and draw insightful conclusions, is critical to the successful performance of this position. This role will serve the needs of multiple departments and senior management. The following duties are typical of those performed by employees in this job title; however, employees may perform other related duties.

• Monitors industry statistics, syndicated data sources and follows trends in trade literature
• Tracks and analyzes global almond shipment trends, transshipments, and pricing
• Coordinates and ensures up-to-date content for monthly reports, tracking documents and materials, including:
  • Developing and modifying templates.
  • Ensuring source data files are accessible, up-to-date and centrally filed.
  • Proofreading and ensuring accuracy for documents when updated.
  • Participates in consumer research projects evaluating demographics, preferences, needs, and buying habits to identify potential markets and factors affecting product demand.
  • Forecasts long-term industry supply and demand
  • Reports on findings; illustrating data graphically and translating complex findings into written text
  • Gathers data and assists executive team in analyzing areas of ABC including production, crop size assessments, yields, production costs, program results, competitive activity, acreage and planting variables, etc.
  • Develops tools and processes/process improvements to data collection and reporting for responsibility areas
  • Builds, or oversees external parties in building, models to assess the economic impact of changes to production practices and upgrading of byproducts
  • Presents findings, conclusions and recommendations to executive team and ABC committees, as necessary
  • Gathers data on competitors and analyzes their prices, sales, and methods of marketing and distributionQUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge of:
    • Mathematics, finance and economics principles and their applications as they relate to the quantitative analysis of data (helpful for analyzing market dynamics, data sets, assumptions, forecasts, investment considerations, and rationale sense-checking)
    • Database design/structure and reporting
    • General analysis and statistical techniques used in evaluating sales and marketing activities (Econometric modeling techniques using statistical regression analysis of data preferred).
    • Financial budgeting and forecasting for multiple departments or divisionsSkill in:
      • Advanced level Microsoft Excel including, but not limited to, experience converting CSV files to Excel ready formats, Lookup Formulas, Dual Axis Charts, and Pivot Tables
      • Developing effective and efficient reports and Excel-based tools for others' use
      • Advanced level database analysis and reporting (preferably with SQL and report-writer experience)
      • Common desktop applications software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, web browsers, and Outlook
      • Experience with data visualization tools beyond Microsoft Office preferred
      • Participating in annual business planning and budgeting processes
      • Handling multiple concurrent deadlines and working independently
      • Strong project management skills including initiating, planning, executing, and monitoring/controlling and closing projects
      • Demonstrated resourcefulness, utilizing all resources available to conduct given analyses about both the input data as well as the method (this includes but is not limited to leveraging primary research, agency contacts, the information superhighway)
      • High attention to detail
      • Understanding mathematical relationships and detecting errors in analysis and assumptions, as well as having a strong discipline of thoroughly analyzing questions from multiple angles and data points
      • Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time
      • Using initiative and judgment within established guidelines
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills to relay complex data analytical insights in a concise and effective manner to a range of audiences
      • Comfort working independently and within a teamILLUSTRATIVE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A typical way to obtain the above knowledge and skill is a combination of education and experience equivalent to: BS degree or equivalent in related field with coursework in marketing, economics, finance and 5-7 years' related professional experience PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: The physical abilities involved in the performance of essential duties are:
        • Working at a computer terminal for extended periods of time
        • Vision sufficient to read handwrit­ten and printed documents and computer screens
        • Speech and hearing sufficient to communi­cate by phone and in person
        • Manual dexterity sufficient to use a variety of office equipment and tools, computer key­boards, and to manipulate papers
        • May lift up to 30 pounds (15 kilos) and manipulate heavier objects using dollies
