Summary
Responsible for the analysis and preparation of various tax
returns, management of tax functions, and general tax and business
compliance for a privately-owned enterprise. Ensures proper
maintenance of accounting records, adherence with Corporate
accounting, regulatory and taxing authority requirements, and
participates in developing and enforcing accounting policies. Works
cross-functionally to partner with operations managers to support
strategic imperatives that drive the business. Helps the
organization gain financial insight into the business, improve
decision making and performance management.
Essential Functions
This job description reflects management's assignment of essential

* Preparation of all tax filings including Sales and Use Tax,
Property Tax, Business License Tax and Gross Receipts Tax. Ensuring
each entity is in compliance with the state and local tax
laws/filings that it is currently operating in.
* Prepares tax related journal entries by compiling and analyzing
account information.
* Works with external tax consultants, and internal and external
teams to ensure that all information requests are satisfied
promptly and accurately, including ad hoc reports and assistance
with understanding of tax and accounting processes.
* Responsible for the accounting, reporting, and control of fixed
assets.
* Ensure that capitalization policy is followed and understood by
company personnel.
* Responsible for forecasts and budgets for property related
accounts.
* Supports any new or ongoing open audit. Includes identifying
factual and legal defense for historical tax return positions,
developing responses, and gathering requested information to
provide to the auditing jurisdiction
* Research tax related issues and finding support for tax positions
made.
* Responsible for specific month-end close processes, including tax
calculations and tax account reconciliations, journal entries, and
financial analysis and reporting, while ensuring accuracy and
completeness. Maintains or reconciles subsidiary records if
applicable.
* Ensures compliance with corporate accounting policies and income
tax accounting guidelines. Implements process improvement
strategies, as well as identifies, develops, and implements
policies, procedures, and best practices.
* Leads project teams to improve business processes and procedures.
Provides management with status updates on progress and drives
projects to completion.
* Responsible for understanding and complying with company's SOX
initiatives.
* Participate in company's lean practices and initiatives.
* Maintains satisfactory attendance, including timeliness.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting,
Economics, or Finance plus 5 years of Accounting experience with
increasing levels of responsibility, with two years focused on tax
compliance.
* Proficiency using MS Excel and MS Office products at an
intermediate level to effectively manage, analyze, and report on a
wide variety of data.
* Experience with SAP Accounting Software at an intermediate
level.
* Strong general ledger experience with 2 years practical hands-on
responsibility for accounting and reporting systems.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration,
Economics, or Finance plus 8 years of Accounting experience
reflecting increasing levels of responsibility with 3 years of
corporate tax experience.
* CPA; or Master in Business Administration; or Taxation.
* Experience with SAP accounting and reporting systems at an
advanced level.
* Experience with SAGE fixed asset system.
* Experience with excise taxes, sales/use taxes, VAT taxes, fixed
assets accounting and depreciation, internal controls monitoring,
and treasury and cash management accounting processes and
systems.
* Proficient in the use of computer spreadsheet technology and
database management along with excellent report writing skills.
* Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
* Experience reading, analyzing and interpreting common scientific
and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
* Experience responding to common inquiries from customers,
regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
* Experience working with advanced mathematical concepts and
applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and
proportions to practical situations.
* Excellent communication and analytical skills.
* Experience working collaboratively with teams of individuals from
all levels and functions within the company to provide strategic
thinking and innovative solutions.
* Skilled in making formal presentations in a team environment and
championing opportunities f change.
* Self-motivated, deadline-driven, works autonomously, strong work
ethic, adaptable to change.
* Experience handling tasks efficiently under pressure when
circumstances dictate a sense of urgency.
* Experience working on projects that have strategic impacts and
improve process efficiencies.
* Understanding of internal control environments and SOX reporting
requirements.

confidential financial transactions requiring poise, tact, and
diplomacy.
* Demonstrated good personal judgment, strategic leadership, and a
commitment to ethical conduct.
