Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, oversee several academic publishing
projects for the Education Division, including assisting staff in
the creation of articles, reports, and other communication
materials; keep the Education Division up-to-date on emerging
education research; and perform administrative support tasks.
Perform other duties as required.
Core Activities:
Under supervision, coach colleagues in planning and writing
peer-reviewed articles about the Education Division's work.
Identify professional and academic publications that align with the
Education Division's work, summarize the article submission process
for each, and coordinate article submissions from the Education
Division.
Edit the Education team's academic publication submissions, as well
as other internal and external communication pieces.
Analyze foundational and emerging research related to the
Aquarium's Education priorities, with a focus on environmental
education, classroom pedagogy, STEAM integration, and ocean
conservation. Synthesize these findings for Education
management.
Create a database of relevant literature and recommend readings to
Education staff.
Draft issue briefs, talking points, presentations, and other
internal communication materials.
Assist in the creation of reports, fact sheets, white papers, and
other external communication materials.
Present findings and products to a variety of audiences, including
educators, donors, Aquarium staff, and board members.
Support the Education team through administrative tasks, including
but not limited to note taking, database management, meeting
scheduling, and program delivery, if needed.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Master's degree with experience writing for academic journals; or
equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Experience with sociological research methodologies
Proven success contributing to a work culture rooted in equity
Excellent public presentation skills and ability to represent
institutional image to a variety of audiences
Strong English writing skills
Strong organizational skills
Strong interpersonal skills with excellent verbal communication
with individuals and groups
A high degree of versatility and ability to prioritize and
coordinate a variety of projects and programs and interact with
diverse interest groups and support personnel
Flexible with changes in work priorities
Familiarity with issues in schools or out-of-school learning
environments
Extensive experience using collaborative cloud technology for
creating high-quality reports and presentations, including but not
limited to Google Suite
Ability to work within, and maintain Monterey Bay Aquarium's Core

fluent Spanish speaking and writing skills
Hourly Compensation Range Minimum:
$25.43 USD per hour. Starting rate will vary based on previous
