This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction
Program (EDRP) a student loan reimbursement program. If selected
for this position, you must meet specific individual eligibility
requirements and submit your application within four months of
appointment. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and
eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA
Education Loan Repayment Services Office.Note: Only education or

to receive credit for that education. For further information,
VA Palo Alto Health Care System is currently recruiting for Primary
Care Providers who will be responsible for assessment and care of
new and returning patients with any number of medical problems
(e.g. hypertension), diabetes, ischemic heart disease, COPD).
He/she is responsible for ordering diagnostics, consultations,
medications and other therapies as medically indicated, meeting
preventative health maintenance needs, completing all required VA
computer documentation including clinical reminders and screenings
in a timely manner.Duties include but not limited to;
- Evaluation, Including performance of H&P (history and
- Diagnosis, consultations, and treatment of adult patients with
- Perform diagnostic or therapeutic joint aspiration/injection,
soft tissue injection, routine women exams,( breast exam, cytologic
pap smear testing, cervical HPV testing) laceration repair, foreign
body removal, abscess incision and drainage, and wound
- Care for patients virtually including via telemedicine, secure
messaging and phone based. Perform preliminary interpretation of
ECG and radiographic studies.
- Provider may be assigned to manage a panel or may serve as
float provider to see patients for urgent issues. Providers also
may cover a panel of patients when a provider is on leave and this
may be done in person or virtually including telemedicine.
Additional support may be extended virtually to other clinics that
need assistance as well as capacity allows.
- Be a part of a primary care team with heavy reliance on team
based care and collaboration. Supervise residents fellows and other
in training when available.
- Other duties as required.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2020. The
initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be
February 26, 2020, with subsequent cut-off dates on the 1st of each
month. Eligible applications received after that date will be
referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on
an as-needed basis until positions are filled.
Applicants pending the completion of educational or
certification/licensure requirements may be referred and
tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed
when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance
with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting
from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The
degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by
the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course
of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or
surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United
States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved
by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core
specialty training program leading to eligibility for board
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Board Certified/Board Eligible Physician.

Physical Requirements: Light carrying less than 15 pounds, reaching
above shoulder, use of fingers, walking 6 hours, standing 6 hours,
repeated bending 2 hours, both legs required, ability for rapid
mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, near vision
correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4, to 20/40OU in other
eye, depth perception, ability to distinguish basic colors, ability
to distinguish shades of colors, hearing (aid permitted),
