Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Patient Care Services and the
Pediatric Department Manager, the Shift Manager utilizes the
nursing process and organizational/leadership skills to coordinate
services of staff to patients during the designated shift. -Assures
patient care is appropriate to the age and developmental level of
patients served. -Assesses staff need for the unit, collaborates
with the staffing coordinator, Nurse Director, Pediatric Department
Manager, and Administrative Nursing Supervisor to ensure patients

Position Accountabilities:1. Determines staffing requirements to
assure safe and competent patient care. -Considers patient acuity,
age specific needs of patients, staff skill mix, and individual
patient's plan of care when making assignments. -Demonstrates
flexibility in response to unexpected changes in volume,

with employee evaluations and performance management. -Utilizes
observation techniques, chart review, and patient interviews to
evaluate staff nurse performance and quality of patient care

goals and plans for evaluating and achieving those initiatives. - -

to 30 days), infant (31 days to 1 year), pediatric (1 to 12 year),
