Psychiatrist Job Details Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Per Diem) – Psychiatrist jobs in Modesto, CA Location: On-site in Modesto, California (zip 95350) Setting: Inpatient Behavioral Health (67-bed adult psychiatric unit) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm; 1 weekend per month (rounding only, 8:00am–4:00pm Saturday & Sunday) Patient Population: Adults (18); no pediatric patients Patient Encounters: Up to 17 per weekday Start Date: December 15, 2025 Assignment Length: Ongoing; preference for full-time psychiatrists for continuity of care Nearest Airports: Oakland, Sacramento, San Jose, San Francisco Estimated Weekly Salary: $6,390–$7,560 per week Psychiatrist Qualifications Active California medical license (required for California psychiatry jobs) Board Certification in Psychiatry (required) BLS certification (required) Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient psychiatric experience Strong clinical background in acute psychiatric care Fellowship in Psychiatry (preferred) Ability to commit to full-time locum tenens coverage for the assignment duration Psychiatrist Responsibilities Serve as Medical Director/Attending Psychiatrist for an adult inpatient behavioral health unit Conduct psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing clinical care for up to 17 adult patients per shift Lead and collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes Participate in weekend rounding (one weekend per month) Utilize evidence-based psychiatric treatment techniques, including pharmacotherapy Manage a range of psychiatric conditions: anxiety disorders, affective disorders, ADD/ADHD, personality disorders, psychotic disorders Preferred experience with group therapy, family therapy, involuntary commitments, seclusion therapy, and restraint application Apply now to join our dedicated behavioral health team and advance your psychiatry career in Modesto, California!
