Description Summary: We currently have a full-time (40
hours/week) opening for the Director of Nursing and Health Services
position at Encompass Community Services. Pay is dependent on
experience ranging from $130,000-$150,000 annually. Schedule is
Monday-Friday as a flexible full-time role (30-40 hours per week).
Position includes participation in the medical on-call rotation.
Additional on-call stipend provided. The Director of Nursing and
Health Services is part of the Encompass program leadership team
and works in close collaboration with other Service Area Directors
and the agency’s Medical Director to establish integrated medical
services and a continuum of care throughout the agency’s programs.
This position oversees the innovation, development, and integration
of medical services across Encompass service areas, including adult
and youth integrated behavioral health and health & housing with a
specific emphasis in developing medical standards of care. This
role is primarily dedicated to residential and outpatient programs
and provides general consultation to the other service areas as
needed. The Director of Nursing and Health Services is a critical
leadership role, creating and driving initiatives that establish
the agency as a leader in the delivery of quality trauma-informed,
harm-reduction, whole-person care. Responsibilities: Assures
quality of care by developing and interpreting standards of care;
enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse
practice act requirements and to other governing agency
regulations. Meets operational standards for medical services
Encompass is licensed to provide, by contributing information to
strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity,
quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems;
identifying system improvements. In conjunction with the Medical
Director: Assists in the development and expansion of agency
medical services. Develops, implements, and maintains medical
policies and procedures including infectious disease, medication,
withdrawal management, Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT),
etc. Provides consistent individual supervisory meetings for all
medical personnel (LVN, RN, NP, PA, MA) including but not limited
to: Recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, counseling, and
performance management. Provides ongoing medical consult
(emergencies, triage, case management, intake concerns, higher
level of care assessments, etc.) Manages and participates in
on-call rotation after-hours/weekend/holiday Oversees clinical
documentation quality and compliance, including treatment notes,
and ensures adherence to fee-for-service billing standards, goals,
and performance metrics. Participates in Quality Improvement
efforts by: Identifying system improvements and regularly
participating in C&QI efforts Assist in quality assurance of
agency medical services including staff training and audits.
Managing contracts, budgets, and developing service lines as they
relate to the provision and future expansion of the agency’s
medical services. In collaboration with the Development and
Communications team, acquire and maintain external funding that
supports the sustainability of medical services and this position.
Qualifications: Required: Graduate of an accredited school of
Registered Nursing (RN). Unencumbered and unrestricted license to
practice as an RN within the state of California. Current BLS for
healthcare provider’s certification. 3 years of relevant experience
with vulnerable health populations. 3 years of experience directly
supervising staff. Proficient computer skills: ability to
successfully navigate platforms such as Outlook, Excel, Teams, etc.
Demonstrate strong skills around attention to detail,
prioritization and triage. Demonstrate ability to take initiative
and work independently with minimal supervision at the top of
nursing license. Self-motivated and proactive in identifying and
addressing challenges and engaging with staff and community
partners. Demonstrate skills in effective written and verbal
communication. Ability to recognize the needs and concerns of
diverse groups of people. Must be able to pass a criminal record
clearance. Must have a health examination including a screening for
tuberculosis within 90 days prior to employment or within 7 days
after employment and at least annually thereafter. Valid driver’s
license and vehicle insurance. This position is eligible for hybrid
work within Santa Cruz County. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or
above Public Health Nursing (PHN) certification Bilingual in
