Store Manager Responsibilities
The Store Manager is responsible for all facets of store operations
and directly influences the performance of everyone who interacts
with guests. Using elements of GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and
reservation business model, the Store Manager develops and promotes
a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions
for every guest, and providing outstanding guest service
experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for
gaming. They support the overall store environment to meet/exceed
sales and profit goals, ensure products are visible and accessible,
build sales through product and gaming knowledge, maintain a clean
and organized environment, and grow guest loyalty and repeat
business. The Store Manager supervises a retail staff, which may
vary based on store size, location, and sales volume.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and lead in a multiunit capacity.
- Provide and model best-in-class guest service, including
greeting guests, responding to questions, assisting with gaming
needs, informing about promotions, recommending items, and ensuring
a positive shopping experience.
- Support the shopping environment, including visual and
operational elements, sales initiatives, and guest
relationships.
- Accurately process transactions using POS system, including
making change, providing receipts, and ensuring top guest
service.
- Respond to guest comments/questions in person or on the phone,
using professional phone etiquette.
- Promote GameStop's guest benefits, such as reservations,
trade-in, and loyalty programs.
- Recruit, interview, hire, assess, develop, and retain
high-performing staff.
- Ensure staff completion of onboarding and training before
shifts, covering policies, inventory control, loss prevention,
safety, and ethics.
- Communicate regularly with staff and District Manager to
implement initiatives; set and train on guest service
expectations.
- Schedule staff, ensuring adequate coverage and adherence to
guidelines, and supervise staffing levels.
- Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify accurate
payment for staff.
- Recognize and provide feedback to staff, maintaining records in
HR systems.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and proper
functioning of fixtures and equipment.
- Fulfill and ship Omni-Channel orders daily.
- Conduct inventory counts, restock merchandise, and organize the
sales floor.
- Protect assets through inventory control and loss prevention,
including safety and scam awareness.
- Lead sales and profit initiatives, and complete administrative
duties.
- Reconcile daily transactions, complete closeout paperwork, and
manage cash deposits.
- Verify shipments, record discrepancies, and conduct
inventories.
- Process defectives and recalls accurately.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed and report injuries
promptly.
- Keep store records organized and up to date.
- Build professional relationships with military personnel if
applicable.
- Adhere to all company policies, including the Code of Standards
and Ethics.
Qualifications
- Proof of identity and legal work eligibility in the
U.S.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree in business or
related field preferred.
- At least 1 year of retail management experience.
- 3 years of retail sales or leadership experience
preferred.
- Video game knowledge is a plus.

- Ability to provide personalized guest assistance.
- Excellent communication skills, bilingual in English/Spanish
preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as a team leader.
- Meet performance expectations including attendance, appearance,

- Proficiency with POS systems and basic math skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete paperwork
accurately.
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment and ability to manage
stress.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and good judgment.
- Physical ability to stand, move, and lift up to 30 lbs.

- Understanding of military ranks if applicable.
