Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team is at the center of bringing

the highest leverage impact. In this role, you will: Be responsible
for defining the strategic vision, overseeing the development, and
managing the growth of an organization's autonomous AI systems and
platforms. This position requires a combination of strategic
thinking, technical expertise in AI/ML, and strong leadership to
align the platform with business goals, build and manage teams, and
drive innovation. Provide technical leadership for the design,
development, testing and deployment of agentic workflows across
Capital One Develop and execute the strategic vision and roadmap
for the agentic AI platform, ensuring it aligns with organizational
priorities. Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of the platform, from
development and integration of AI solutions to sunsetting legacy
offerings. Guide technical teams, set best practices for AI
orchestration, MLOps, and application development, and ensure
platform scalability and reliability. Work with senior leaders,
product management, sales, and other engineering teams to align the
platform's capabilities with business goals. Act as a champion for
the platform, articulating its strategic value to senior
stakeholders and influencing enterprise decision-making. Foster a
culture of innovation and drive the adoption of AI-powered tools
across the organization. Ensure the platform is developed and
deployed in compliance with industry regulations and ethical AI
best practice Set a strategic roadmap, collaborating with
cross-functional teams, and ensuring the platform's compliance with
ethical and regulatory standards. Partner with a cross-functional
team of engineers, research scientists, technical program managers,
and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that change how
our associates work and how our customers interact with Capital
One. Advise on the selection of technologies, programming
languages, AI/ML models, orchestration engines, and deployment
platforms. Make high judgment build-vs-buy decisions across a broad
stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies. Contribute to the
technical vision and the long term roadmap of foundational AI
systems at Capital One. Attract and retain top talent in the AI

goals when the route is unknown. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's
degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer
Engineering, or related fields plus at least 8 years of experience
developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or a Master's
degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer
Engineering, or related fields plus at least 6 years of experience
developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies At least 3 years of
people leadership experience Preferred Qualifications: 5 years of
experience managing and leading an engineering team 7 years of
experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud
platforms (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private
cloud) Experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies
(e.g. LLM Inference, Similarity Search and VectorDBs, Guardrails,
Memory) using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang Passion for staying
abreast of the latest AI research and AI systems, and judiciously
apply novel techniques in production Excellent communication and
presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex AI
concepts to peers Capital One will consider sponsoring a new

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are
listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information
is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these
locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay
at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be
prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly
worked. San Francisco, CA: $293,600 - $335,100 for Director, AI
Engineering San Jose, CA: $293,600 - $335,100 for Director, AI
Engineering Candidates hired to work in other locations will be
subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the
actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the
time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer
letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance based
incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or
long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or
