Job Description Set-up and Pre-Delivery Technician Department: Service Job Status: Full Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Service Manager, Sales Job Summary The Set-up and Pre-Delivery Technician is responsible for completing the Set-up of major units and the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) process including detailing and performing light maintenance work on the vehicles. This person will report to the Set-Up and Pre-Delivery Tech Lead that will coordinate with the Service Manager and appropriate Sales personnel to ensure that the Set-up and PDI processes are completed safely, timely, and meet all quality and delivery expectations. As with all positions within our dealership, a Service Technician is expected to be committed to excellent customer service, uphold the highest ethical standards, and work cooperatively with all departments. Essential Functions Receive units upon delivery. Use forklift to unload, load, and move crates. Inspect crates thoroughly upon delivery to determine overall condition. When damage is found to crates or units, immediately take pictures and report it to the Service Manager. Inspect crate and unit prior and during set-up and/or PDI to determine overall condition. Use the applicable set-up and PDI sheets to determine safety needs and other potential repair needs. Properly and completely document the necessary information on each repair order using the required three Cs (Condition, Cause, Correction). Properly perform appropriate quality control tests for each repair to verify correction. Provide completed Set-up and PDI findings to the Service Manager immediately. Adhere to warranty processing expectations. Ensure that appropriate warranty information (and parts retention) is provided to support the dealerships warranty claims processes. Coordinate with the Sales Department and Service Manager using establishes processes and quality control checks. Retrieve units from other storage locations. Assist Service Department with detailing units. Assist Sales Department with moving units out for display. Assist Sales Department with moving units in at end of business day. Assist Service Department with moving units in and out of shop areas. Maintain good housekeeping in the Set-up and PDI are as well as the wash area and vehicle staging/storage areas. Assist Service Department with housekeeping. Install parts or accessories as instructed. Perform work in accordance to factory specifications. Complete work within the scheduled or expected time period. Use and operate a computer and multiple computer programs. Use the telephone system appropriately. Environment Maintain a clean, orderly, and service department environment. Perform Open, Closing, and other operating procedures according to dealership guidelines. Assist in maintaining the Set-up, PDI, and service area to meet or exceed the dealerships standards. Use dealership equipment and resources safely and proficiently. Follow all safety guidelines for the department and the dealership. Assist the Service Writer and/or Manager and Sales Department as needed. General Responsibilities Stay abreast of new trends and techniques pertaining to motorcycle and powersports functions, operability, and repair. Keep current on all factory training including certifications, web-based or other training, technical service bulletins, other update literature, and new model training. Ensure that adequate internal controls are functioning appropriately within assigned areas. Adhere to corporate policies/procedures, documentation standards, and applicable regulatory requirements (i.e., federal, state, local). Comply with the BAR RO standards (Write it Right). Exercise an appropriate level of courtesy, tact, and professional communications in dealing with others. Contribute to a favorable public image of Honda Kawasaki KTM of Modesto. Contribute toward effective team problem solving with other employees and management to foster a collaborative workplace, and to promote positive customer experiences. Exhibit a high level of commitment to customer satisfaction. Adhere to a standard of professional ethics. Show a high level of ownership, accountability, and initiative. Work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of tasks efficiently and with minimal error. Maintain positive relationships with customers, other employees, and owners. Reaching outward, above shoulder, and down low Handling Using fingers Bending Stretching Squatting Kneeling Climbing Using a computer Qualifications Minimum Education (or substitute experience) High School Diploma or equivalent. 1 year minimum of verifiable relatable experience or alternative training. Other Requirements Current CA-Motorcycle (M-1) drivers license preferred. Clean driving record . Forklift Experience Highly Preferred Analytical Skills required Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Ability to observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources. Ability to monitor and review information from materials, events, or the environment to detect or assess problems. Able to compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, or verify information or data. Identify the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts. Math Skills required The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Computer Skills required Possess basic computer skills. The ability to learn dealer management software and other related software. The ability to use electronic messaging systems. Communication Skills required Ability to speak effectively and clearly. Ability to listen effectively. Ability to give provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, in person, or electronic messaging clearly and efficiently. Ability to follow instructions, both written and verbal. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to write legibly. Availability Available to work 9am to 6pm, Monday through Saturday; usually a 40 workweek TBD. Regular Saturday availability is required. Available for Overtime when necessary to achieve goals. This position does not require tools. The dealership provides all tools necessary to complete the requirements of this position.
