This position is in our Natural Formulas Manufacturing Division which is located in Hayward, California.



POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs lab tests to determine microbiological purity of raw materials, in process, and finished products. Performs environmental monitoring of the manufacturing and packaging plants, including water testing. Comply with regulatory guidelines as described in USP/BP/FDA/AOAC-BAM methodology.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


Test raw materials, finished tablets and capsules, home care and cosmetic products for all applicable microbial requirements.
Operates lab equipment and instruments such as balances, incubator, autoclave, water bath, hoods and other equipment.
Prepares media and qualify them via growth promotion tests for procedures. Records all pertinent data per regulatory and SOP requirements.
Records test results on standardized forms and writes test reports. Utilizes lab book for all data.
Cleans, sterilizes and calibrates equipment as necessary.
Performs sanitation/environmental sampling (manufacturing facility).
Runs identification of microorganisms such as E. Coli, Salmonella, S. aureus, and Pseudomonas found in the contaminated raw material/finished products.
Performs validation of microbial tests on finished products as necessary.
Maintains inventory of microbiology lab supplies and orders supplies as needed.
Monitors environment and equipment from a microbiological perspective.
Follows lab hygiene plan for disposal of biohazardous waste.
Adheres to Good Laboratory, Manufacturing, and safety practices.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelor s Degree in Microbiology or related field, required.
1 -2 years full-time microbiologist experience required. Experience in dietary supplements or food industry is preferred.
Experience with Soleris testing system a plus.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to strictly adhere to laboratory protocols and techniques to ensure compliance with microbiological testing standards and safety regulations.
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively document and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Attention to detail, critical-thinking skills, superior organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
Ability to lift/move 25 lbs routinely.
