Job Summary
Under supervision, responsible for providing advising and
undergraduate program administration to the College of L&S
Voorhies Administrative Unit. Provide advising and directs students
to appropriate resources, provide administrative support to the
English and Medieval and Early Modern Studies (MEMS) majors and
University Writing Program minors, conduct course scheduling input,
maintain student and instructional databases, manage scholarships
and awards processes.Apply By Date

full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license
and/or certification if required of the position* Skillful
experience handling difficult/unpleasant situations and/or
individuals, identifying problems/needs, making competent
referrals, or developing solutions.
* Knowledgeable in advising, counseling, and career placement for
students in a higher education environment.
* Accomplished knowledge of university, college, major, design, and
general and academic education requirements and their application
to specific major programs, along with educational options.
* Advanced skills in the use of a variety of computer software
including but not limited to word processing and data management,
spreadsheets, e-mail, and web browsers.
* Strong analytical skills to interpret policies & requirements of
the department, college & university, & communicate complex
regulations.
* Skills to collect and analyze statistics, to create summary
reports, track student progress and undergraduate enrollment
trends.
* Excellent oral skills and writing competence to clearly answer
correspondence, write reports and develop presentations to
individuals & groups, with proofreading skills.Preferred
Qualifications* Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent
experience/training.
* Experience with student records and apply federal and state FERPA
and Information Privacy act regulations along with experience with
admissions criteria for new students, articulation agreements with
other universities/colleges for transfer students, and the
applicability of credit from other institutions.
* Knowledge of University, College of Letters & Science, &
Department policies, requirements & procedures related to
undergraduate students along with course offerings, prerequisites,
& programs available on campus, & registration procedures &
deadlines.
* Leadership skills for directing/leading employees.
* Knowledge of Banner tables and their related data and
query/maintenance forms, and knowledge of policies related to
department and campus access to the Banner student information

Administrative Unit is a cluster that consists of the English
Department and University Writing Program which are large academic
units within the College of Letters and Science in the Division of
Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies. The English department along
with the University Writing Program, which is administered in the
unit, offers courses to some 17,000 students annually. In addition,
the staff have the responsibility of the administration of programs
in Medieval & Early Modern Studies, Area 3 Writing Project, Entry
Level Writing, English as a Second Language Program. Additionally,
the department administers the Upper Division Composition
Examination required by all four colleges and the English as a
Second Language Writing Program. At the graduate level, the
department offers the Ph.D. degree and an MFA Program in Creative
Writing. The department consists of 34 permanent faculty, 52
continuing lecturers, 34 one-year lecturers, 114 graduate student
employees, 127 registered graduate students, 600 undergraduate
majors and 18 permanent staff.POSITION INFORMATION* Salary or Pay
